A Solution |
| Metal, Pre-Fabricated Fireplaces are an affordable alternative
to a masonry fireplace. To protect the metal firebox, and
your home from damage from heat or fire, the manufacturer
used a refractory (Cement-like) panel to reflect the heat
from the fire away from the back, floor and sides of the
firebox. These panels often crack, or break with age, leaving
your home unprotected. Using your fireplace in this condition
can permanently damage the metal firebox, costing thousands
of dollars in replacement, or even worse, allow high temperatures
to escape the fireplace system and reach combustibles in
your walls. This could lead to a possible house fire, and
loss of property and life. |
Up until now, finding the right panels to
replace cracked or broken ones could be a nightmare. Locating
the fireplace maker can be a challenge (assuming they are
still in business) Many companies have gone out of business,
or been merged with other companies. If the original panels
can be found, shipping them is expensive and often difficult
because they are so easily broken. |
